BAS Consultancy has worked with a range of places, from city centres to rural communities to engage communities and develop long term strategies for transformation. Examples are below:

Placemaking

Working with developers on major regeneration sites to develop placemaking strategies

High Streets Task Force development and delivery (as an expert) across a range of centres in the UK including Preston, Newcastle, Kendal, Thornton Heath, Rochdale and St Helens

Delivering Vital and Viable programme to community stakeholders in East Lindsay and North Devon

Markets development, including Worcester and Manchester Christmas Market, Ledbury and as CEO of Lower Marsh Market

Policy development (Community Improvement Districts, Community Governance, Transport policy, Spatial masterplanning, High Street Rental Auctions)

Business Improvement District advice and guidance (including helping to establish the BID Foundation, and delivering reviews of BID operations and vision)

Bristol Place Manifesto published in 2024 following a year-long experiment in citizen-led placemaking and systemic thinking.
Citizen participation

Development of national guidance for councils, placemakers and landowners on involving the public in conversations about controversial statues, place names and heritage assets.​

Development of a City Participation Principles and Framework document as part of Bristol Urban Forum work, to encourage councillors to work closely with citizens to involve them in city decision-making.

South Bank and Waterloo Neighbourhood Plan. Ben ran the process of developing the neighbourhood plan from conception to (sussessful) referendum. He also wrote the neighbourhood plan.
